2023년 10월 25일, 정보통신산업진흥원 산하 ICT 콤플렉스에서는 4차산업 직업체험 프로그램의 일환으로 파주시 교하고등학교 학생들을 대상으로 4차 산업혁명과 인공지능 진로탐색에 관한 특별한 프로그램을 진행하였다.
이날 행사에서는 타우데이타 주식회사의 정화민 대표이사가 연사로 참여하였다. 그는 서강대학교 정보통신 대학원에서 데이터사이언스 & 인공지능 전공의 겸임교수로 재직하고 있으며, 인공지능 교육에 대한 중, 고등학교 조기 교육의 중요성을 강조해왔다. 학생들에게 인공지능 전문가가 되기 위한 길을 알려주며, 다음과 같은 주요 기술 및 능력을 강조하였다.
프로그래밍 기술: 인공지능 전문가는 Python, R, Java와 같은 주요 프로그래밍 언어를 통해 데이터 처리, 알고리즘 작성 및 시스템 구축 능력이 필수적이다.
수학 및 통계 지식: 기계 학습 및 딥 러닝 알고리즘의 핵심적 이해를 위해선 선형 대수학, 미적분학, 확률 및 통계 등의 수학적 기반이 필요하다.
데이터 분석 및 처리: 대용량 데이터 관리와 분석, 그리고 SQL과 같은 데이터베이스 언어 이해와 데이터 전처리, 정제 능력이 중요하다.
기계 학습 및 딥 러닝: 다양한 기계 학습 알고리즘과 딥 러닝 모델을 이해하고 구현하는 능력이 요구된다.
문제 해결 능력: 4차 산업혁명 시대에는 복잡한 문제에 대해 창의적이고 독창적으로 접근하는 능력이 필수적이다.
이날 행사에 참여한 한 학생은 진로체험 후 자신의 대학 전공을 경제학으로 결정하고, 부전공으로 인공지능을 선택하려고 하는 계획을 밝혔다. 그는 “직업적 전망이 어떻게 되겠느냐”는 질문을 정화민 교수에게 던졌다. 정교수는 “경제학과 인공지능의 융합은 미래의 많은 가능성을 가진 분야로, 이 두 분야의 콜라보에 매우 긍정적”이라며 “인공지능을 부전공으로 선택하는 것을 적극 추천한다”고 답하였다.
정화민 교수는 문제 해결 능력의 중요성을 특히 강조하면서, 4차 산업 혁명 시대의 인공 지능 전문가가 되기 위해서는 이러한 능력이 절대적으로 필요하다고 강조하였다.
행사가 끝난 후 여러 학생들은 자신들의 진로에 대한 새로운 관점과 통찰을 얻었다는 반응을 보였다. 특히 인공지능과 다른 전공 분야와의 융합이 가져올 수 있는 무한한 가능성에 대해 큰 흥미를 느꼈다고 전했다.
한 학생은 “오늘의 직업체험은 제가 생각하던 인공지능의 이미지를 넓혀줬다. 특히 경제학과 인공지능의 결합이 가져올 수 있는 미래의 직업 전망에 대해 깊게 생각해보게 되었다”라며 감사의 뜻을 표현했다. 또 다른 학생은 “정 교수님의 강연을 통해 인공지능 전문가가 되기 위한 기본적인 능력 외에도 문제 해결 능력의 중요성을 다시 한번 깨달았다”고 전했다.
정보통신산업진흥원 산하 ICT 콤플렉스 측은 학생들에게 4차산업혁명 시대의 중요한 진로 정보를 제공하는 이러한 프로그램을 계속해 왔다고 밝혔다. 그들은 “젊은 세대에게 미래의 기술 트렌드와 직업의 방향성을 제시하여 국가의 미래를 선도할 인재 양성에 기여하고자 한다”는 의지를 표현했다.
이번 직업체험 프로그램은 파주시 교하고등학교 학생들 뿐만 아니라 교육계와 산업계에게도 4차산업혁명과 인공지능 분야의 교육적 중요성을 재조명하는 계기가 되었으면 한다./Taudata Co., Ltd.
The ICT Complex under the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) has conducted an AI career exploration program targeting students of Gyo-Ha High School in Paju City through their 4th Industrial Revolution job experience program.
On October 25th, 2023, as part of the 4th Industrial Revolution job experience program, a special session on the exploration of careers in the 4th Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence was conducted for the students of Gyo-Ha High School at the ICT Complex under NIPA.
At this event, Jung Hwa-min, CEO of Taudata Co., Ltd., participated as a speaker. He is also a part-time professor in the Data Science & Artificial Intelligence major at the graduate school of Information and Communication at Seogang University, emphasizing the importance of early education in AI for middle and high school students. He outlined the path to becoming an AI expert, highlighting the following key skills and abilities:
Programming Skills: AI experts must have the ability to handle data, write algorithms, and build systems through major programming languages like Python, R, and Java.
Mathematics and Statistics: A solid foundation in linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics is essential for a core understanding of machine learning and deep learning algorithms.
Data Analysis and Processing: It’s important to have skills in managing and analyzing large datasets, understanding database languages like SQL, and data preprocessing and cleaning.
Machine Learning and Deep Learning: An understanding and implementation ability for various machine learning algorithms and deep learning models are required.
Problem-Solving Skills: In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the ability to approach complex problems creatively and innovatively is essential.
One student, after the career exploration session, revealed plans to major in economics in college and choose artificial intelligence as a minor. He asked Professor Jung Hwa-min about potential career prospects. Professor Jung responded positively about the collaboration of economics and AI, suggesting it’s a field with many future possibilities and strongly recommended taking AI as a minor.
Jung emphasized the importance of problem-solving skills, stressing that they are absolutely essential to becoming an AI expert in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
After the event, many students expressed that they gained a new perspective and insight into their career paths. They were particularly interested in the infinite possibilities that the integration of AI and other major fields could offer.
One student said, “Today’s job experience broadened my perception of AI. I especially gave deep thought to the future job prospects that the combination of economics and AI could bring,” expressing gratitude. Another mentioned, “Through Professor Jung’s lecture, I realized once again the importance of problem-solving skills, in addition to the basic skills needed to become an AI expert.”
The ICT Complex under NIPA stated that they have continuously provided students with crucial career information for the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. They expressed their commitment to guiding the younger generation with future tech trends and career directions to nurture talents leading the nation’s future.
This job experience program not only targeted Gyo-Ha High School students in Paju City but also aimed to shed light on the educational significance of the 4th Industrial Revolution and the AI sector for both the educational and industrial sectors.(Taudata Co., Ltd.)
